Your Ultimate Source for Festival Hair Trends and Hairdo Inspiration

If you’re a product of a cosmetology school in Austin, TX and your client wants to attend a popular music festival, how would you advise her to do her hair? Floral crowns and mermaid braids have been done to death, especially during celebrity-approved festivals like Coachella. Although you can give these tried-and-tested looks a new twist, there are other festival hair trends and hairdo inspirations that you can also try out.

Festival Hair Trends and Styling Ideas

Let’s say that you are fresh out of an Austin, Texas cosmetology school and a college student is asking you for ideas on how she can do her hair for a huge music festival she’s attending with her friends. For this, there are a lot of things that you need to take into consideration. Remember that most music festivals are a multiple-day event – mostly they last from Friday night through the wee hours of Sunday or Monday. Since it’s a long weekend and the venue is most probably packed with people, do not expect that your client will get to wash her hair everyday. So how can she still look fabulous and festival-worthy if her locks would have to last for two or three days without washing?

Here are some festival hair trends and styling ideas to try out:

  • Go for a floral-themed look.

We get it. The first thing that pops to your mind whenever the words music festival are uttered is floral crowns. But how can you make sure that this look stays put during the entire event? If you’re afraid that a real flower crown will wilt or a crown with artificial flowers will continuously slip out of your hair – ditch it and go for a similar, but easier to wear floral look. How about wearing a classic braid and decorating the end with a white orchid – artificial or real? Or, you can put your hair up for the first day of the festival and complete the look with cute floral pins.

  • Boxer braids or cornrows

Again, your goal is to get rid of the usual floral crowns or braids that all the other women will wear at the festival – so go for something more unique like boxer braids or cornrows. Have your hair done this way by a stylist before you go to the festival, then don the look on the first day. The bonus is that once you release your boxer braids or cornrows the next day, you will have naturally wavy hair which you can style with a colorful headband or other frilly accessories.

  • Go for glitter!

An increasingly popular look which is truly Instagram-worthy is glitter roots. Style your hair as usual then use glitter to style the roots. Go color-crazy or stick to just one hue. You might have to wear it the entire festival weekend, though, so make sure to prepare flattering hair accessories to vary your look.

  • Metal or tapestry accessories

You can also go for metal or tapestry accessories. Style your hair with big plaits and use tiny silver hoops randomly on each plait – and combine it with a gold chain that runs through your roots. Another way to go is to use colorful yarn or threads and run them through sections of your hair to create a boho, music festival worthy look.

Take your pick from these festival hair trends if you’re studying at a cosmetology school near Austin, TX and you are looking for style inspiration.
